Advice & Support
While we once had the successful “Practitioner Advice & Support Scheme” (PASS Scheme) to help dentists facing challenges, unfortunately, this program was stopped in 2006 due to lack of support from the (then) PCT’s. Despite this, Wiltshire LDC continues to support practitioners who fall foul of our various regulatory bodies on an ad-hoc basis and remain committed to sympathetically helping colleagues in need.
The assistance is offered by a professional colleague in a non-judgmental and compassionate manner and aims to help with the early detection and correction of poor performance. It is managed as a sub-committee of the LDC, but includes membership from outside the LDC and operates under a strict code of confidentiality.
Our underlying philosophy is to provide a more caring approach to helping those who fall short of acceptable professional standards. This contrasts with the increasing number of rules and regulations, from political, academic and regulatory bodies, that are bombarding GDPs.
Over the years, we have successfully supported numerous cases and remain dedicated to our mission, even as we work towards reinstating previous support programs. If you have any specific questions or require further information about the support and assistance offered by the Wiltshire LDC, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are here to support our dental community and ensure the highest standards of patient care.
